Tom Dixon. The Company was founded in 2002 by Tom Dixon and David Begg. Since its inception, the company has developed its own collection of contemporary lighting and furniture, including the well-known Mirror Ball and the more recent Copper Shade lighting series. Tom Dixon's designs clearly belong to the international upper class of design, which is confirmed by exhibitions such as the Milan Furniture Fair and the London Design Museum - where Tom Dixon was nominated for Designer of the Year.
Tom Dixon became known above all for his early works, such as the S-Chair for Cappellini or the plastic lamp Jack (for Eurolounge), which was produced using a rotation process and received the "Millennium Mark for Great British Design" in 1998. In addition, Tom Dixon was awarded the OBE in 2000 for his services to British design.
Since 2004 there has been a partnership between Tom Dixon and the capital company Proventus, which today, in addition to Tom Dixon, also manages the company Artek, which was founded by Alvar Aalto in 1935 and still produces his curved furniture designs today.
