Every year, the end of the summer holidays marks an important transition for countless children all over the world as they get ready to start school – and the way they start it can hugely influence how much they enjoy it and their level of achievement.
A lot of children can't wait for their first day of school, when they start a new stage of life after nursery, and there are just as many who undergo similar transitions as they move from primary, secondary and further education to the next level and stage of their life.
This means that it is important for parents, family and friends to make this day a very special one. In Germany, this important occasion is traditionally celebrated by presenting a child with a large colourful cardboard cone filled with sweets and small presents, as well as, in some cases, a room makeover and new furniture to create a good working environment to encourage and support study.
