Marcato and Dario Romano founded LaPalma in 1978 in Padua, Italy. Since then, LaPalma has produced furniture for modern living with clear proportions and the ambition to create a universal product that lasts forever.
LaPalma places value on using natural resources such as wood from controlled cultivation, leather, metal, glass, and wicker. Out of this multitude of elements and functions, the rational aesthetics of their products are filtered. Their design objects are intended to accompany people in everyday life, to help enjoy moments and situations, to appreciate the little details and last but not least they should create a peaceful atmosphere. “A style that creates clever and functional rooms.”
All LaPalma products are checked in an ample quality control regarding material and function before leaving the plant in Cadoneghe near Padua.
Rational design and high quality are the recipe for success of LaPalma. This has been awarded with international design prizes several times e.g. the English FX International Interior Design Award in 2000 and the Japanese Good Design Award (2001).
