Chair Series in Windsor Style

HAY's J Series includes chairs and armchairs in a classic design with both functional and aesthetic features. All chairs in the series have a fan-shaped backrest made of single, slender rods that are reminiscent of the typical 18th century Windsor chairs. . Thanks to the frill-free and restrained design language, the chairs have a modern, Scandinavian touch, which makes them fit perfectly into any ambience.

Originally produced by FDB in the 1960s, the chairs have now returned home thanks to HAY.
Both alone or in a group of different variants at the dining table, they simultaneously bring old time charm as well as a modern touch, providing extraordinary comfort

The chairs of the J-series are only suitable for private use. A use in public space is not recommended.

Designers

Børge Mogensen Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of the most influential Danish designers of the 20th century. and designer for the manufacturer Fredericia from 1955 until his death. His furniture are supposed to be functional and facilitate the people’s daily life.
Folke Pålsson The Danish Folke Pålsson was a member of the design collective FDB, which was founded by Borge Møgensen after the Second World War. Pålsson is especially remembered because of his J77 chair today.
Jørgen bækmark The Dane Jørgen Bækmark was a member of the Danish furniture collective FDB Møbler around Børge Mogensen. In the 1960s, FDB developed practical and inexpensive pieces of furniture that followed the design of the German Bauhaus.
Poul M. Volther Poul Volther belonged to a generation of designers, which still owned a handicraft background, he passed by in 2001. The ability of handmade designs are clearly visible in the designs of the Danish. .
