Design of the Work Process of Sculpture
The member of a creative architect family Victoria Wilmotte was born in Paris in 1985. First, she studied interior design. Later she went to the Royal College of Art in London and completed her master in product design in 2008. In her first own design studio, which she founded in her hometown of Paris, she created the first designs for Philips de Pury or Poliform. The first solo exhibition followed in Brussels in 2009.
The international success finally came with her first Carafes series, which is based on common household objects. It was followed by designs for various luxury brands for different objects, such as mirrors, side tables and also carpets.
The work process for Victoria Wilmotte’s objects recall the art of sculpting. She likes to experiment with different materials and keeps shaping them until she creates a perfect version corresponding to her vision. Her favourite material is marble, by whose heaviness and thickness she is fascinated by, and metal, which gives her much freedom in terms of design.
