Scandinavian Minimalism and Forms from the Sea
Thomas Pedersen is a Danish designer who adapts his objects to the human body. For him, flowing and organic forms, which adapt to the body, are the most important things when it comes to designing a new design object. For this reason his designs are based on the shapes of the sea and its inhabitants.
His most famous design object, the Stingray rocking chair, which was presented at the Copenhagen furniture fair for Fredericia in 2002, was inspired from the appearance of a stingray. When looking at the chair, you have always the feeling as if a ray slides across the ocean bed. This extraordinary combination of Scandinavian minimalism and forms from the sea make the designs by Pedersen, extremely interesting and exciting and at the same time pleasing to the eye.
