The Scholten & Baijings Studio for Design was founded by the designers Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings in the year 2000 in Amsterdam. Meanwhile, the designer duo is an inherent part of Dutch design and it convinces with new basic approaches.
Stefan Scholten, who was born in the year 1972, graduated in the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Carole Baijings, born in 1973 is an autodidact in the design area.
Scholten & Baijings initially realized different projects where they emphasized the frontiers between autonomous and already existing forms over all. Parts of their works are exposed in the collections of the Centraal Museum Utrecht, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Netherlands Textile Museum Tilburg. But also increasingly designs for interior areas are their focus. This is proved by works for Van Esch, Gelderland or the Danish label Hay Design among others.
The design approach from Scholten & Baijings normally is coined by manual work. Traditional forms are combined with expressive and creative forms and patterns. The designers use grids, light effects, colours, transparency and layered patterns for their creations. But the patterns do always stay minimalistic and are combined with partly ventured colour mixtures. The colours or graphic designs therefore range from soft pastel tones to bright and lightning colours.
