British American Design Studio
Sam Hecht is a British designer who was born in London in 1969. He did his Masters in industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London and went to California and Tokyo for three years, before returning to London in 1999. The works of David Chipperfield in particular convinced him that inspiration can be found in the simplest things.
American designer Kim Colin studied both art history and architecture in her hometown of Los Angeles. In 1997, she went to London and taught at the Royal College of Art. In 2002, she founded the design studio Industrial Facility in London together with Sam Hecht.
Designer Sam Hecht & Kim Colin founded the Industrial Facility design studio to investigate and contextualise products, furniture and environments so that their potential for progress is revealed. The design studio designs objects of varying purpose in relation to their spatial, cultural and performative landscapes for international companies operating worldwide. They create design objects, furniture, exhibitions and clothing.
