Hilgers' innovative yet astonishingly simple furniture solutions, such as the ultra-flat secretary desk "flatmate" or the compact balcony workstation "balKonzept", exemplify his philosophy of questioning traditional product categories for today's living and working environment and rethinking them in a pragmatic way.
The (multi)functional, flexible and space-saving furniture developed in his Berlin studio has won several awards, including the Interior Innovation Award, and has already been exhibited in various museums.
