Born in Bergamo, Laura Polinoro graduated in arts and communication at the DAMS in Bologna. She worked in contemporaneous dance and took the responsibility of artists as well as the coordination of the costumes and scenery. After that time she became researcher at the Domum Academy.
Laura Polinoro was the leader of the Alessi Study Centre (“CSA”), working as metaproject-designer and Art Director. Alessi entered fields, unknown before, with her. The "Family Follow Fiction"-collection, the "Creole Memory Container"-project and the "Biological"-project count to the main projects she worked in (being the starting point of many further objects that are now in the design collections in the MOMA in New York, the Groningen Museum in Groningen, the MAL in Frankfurt, the Museu d’Arts Décoratifs de Barcelona and the museum for design in Zurich).
After the termination of the CSA in 2000, she founded the “Laura Polinoro Workshop”, where she organized uncountable workshops with further designers, advising companies about innovative product design. The projects that came out of those workshops are named with the initials LPWK.
