John Truex is multi-talented : the New Yorker is businessman, designer, craftsman and scientist - all in one person.
For some time, John Truex was occupied particularly with the design of accessories like bottle opener or - in fact - sugar cubes. Today, Truex, with Richard Lambertson, is vice president and chief designer of the leather department of the world-famous jewellery shop Tiffany & Co. in New York. Furthermore, the American is Assistant Professor at the Syracuse University and deals with the Borough Furnace in the the field of technical metal working.
Whenever John Truex finds time next to all of these occupations, he designs products for Alessi, Calvin Klein or different agencies.
Truex's designs often have a rough and technical charm but there are exceptions to this rule: the Banana Holder which Truex designed for Alessi is drawn markedly clear and well-defined. It almost appears as if Truex tries everything that life offers.
