Johanna Grawunder is a designer and architect living in Milan, Italy and San Francisco, USA. Her works include a wide spectrum reaching from huge public furnishing, architecture and interior rooms up to sporadic furniture and lamp designs. She designs products for few, selected companies such as Flos, Boffi or GlasItalia.
Her most recent designs are – besides some private works – lamps, furniture and interior furnishings as well as the furnishing of sophisticated illumination projects. For the Free Port Singapore she designed a permanent installation of “light ceilings” through the whole building as well as a unique light façade. The Museum of Modern Art and Design in New York was equipped with an ultra-weightless ceiling by her.
Also cooperation with other designers such as the Studio Sottsass emboss her career especially in terms of interior design and architecture. For Ettore Sottsas she worked as co-designer and was also responsible for many of the prestigious projects of the studio.
Her works are exposed in many museums and permanent expositions, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), CNAP, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute Chicago and the High Museum of Atlanta.
