Jacques Adnet (1900 – 1984) was an architect and designer who became especially famous by his Art-Deco modernistic furniture design and who is deemed to be an icon of French modern times.
Jacques Adnet was born near Burgundy. He studied at the Municipal School of Design in Auxerre and architecture at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs.
After his graduation, he founded the company J.J. Adnet together with his twin Jean. Jacques Adnet was named Director of the Compagnie des Arts Français (CAF) already aged 28. The CAF made up an ideal platform for Jacques, to improve his modernistic designs. He worked and experimented with sophisticated wood-sorts and chromed metals. Wherever it was possible he integrated ornamentations out of mirrors, leather, parchment and also smoked glass.
Jacques Adnet passed by in 1984 and he left behind numerous designs that are still modern today.
