MSDS is an interdisciplinary design studio from Toronto that works in the fields of concept, object and product design. The design duo does not bow to any conventions but rather tries to create something absolutely new.
Jonathan Sabine and Jessica Nakanishi are the two heads behind the label MSDS. Radical design theories which were established by a few Italian lamp designers in the 60s are not only inspiration to the design studio MSDS but also an important impulse: their designs must not not suit existing interiors but must stand out from the mass.
Thereby, MSDS consciously stand against a more and more homogenous design that is widespread by world-wide growing together and the internet. That's why the designs of Nakanishi and Sabine are always instinctively shaped instead of using something that already exist. On this account, one cannot calim that MSDS uses a typical design language that can be found in every product. Nevertheless, the designs of the Canadian design duo are passionate and consequent because the two creative heads would never copy - not even their own design.
