For decades Bruno Munari is well-known in Italy as artist, graphic designer, journalist and author of children’s books.
Such a unique versatility is really amazing; Munari is even capable of extracting rudimental surprises from apparently unimposing things. Umberto Eco says about Munari that he has eyes all over – Munari makes hidden things visible, with a frivolous seriousness and a contemplating serenity.
In 1954, the monkey “Zizi” made out foam saw the light of the day, one of the first imaginative (and fantasy-provoking) children’s toys from this designer. Since 1964, his Falkland light (Danese Milano) is also a true design classic.
