Danish Architect
Bjarke Ingels is a Danish architect, who was born in Copenhagen in 1974. After graduating from architecture in 1998 at the Kongelige Danske Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole in Copenhagen and at the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura in Barcelona, he worked in the Office for Metropolitan Architecture for Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam until 2001.
In the same year Bjarke Ingels founded the architecture office PLOT in Copenhagen together with the Belgian Julien de Smedt. Both were able to celebrate successes with their designs and are responsible for notable buildings.
Despite their successful cooperation, the two separated their businesses and founded their own offices in 2006. Bjarke Ingels is the owner of the Bjarke Ingels Group and still works on large projects. His designs include among others the Danish National Museum for shipping in Helsingør or the VIA57 WEST residential building in Manhattan.
His designs speak a clear language. With pragmatic ideas and a playful implementation Ingels creates extraordinary designs that make an impression.
