Anu Penttinen graduated at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. She focuses on glass material, which is why she leads a studio in Nuutajärvi Glass Village, where the most ancient glass houses of Finland are.
Anu Penttinen’s art mirrors the interest of phenomena and the details of city life. Maps, city streets and transport paths change and move from place to place – this is what has always fascinated Penttinen:
“I filter my visual world out of concrete places or human activities that flow into my glass designs at the end, much more abstracted.”
Anu Penttinen furthermore likes strong colours and transparent forms – these are seen in her designs for iittala, such as the Penttinen glass birds of the Vitriini storage boxes.
