Spare glider for Plastic Chair DSW / DAW
These felt and plastic glides from Vitra were specially developed for the Plastic Chairs DSW and DAW by Charles & Ray Eames. Attached to the chair, the practical felt glides protect the chair itself, the floor on which it stands, and reduce the noise that can occur when the chair is moved. The plastic glides, on the other hand, are ideal for soft floor coverings such as carpets.
Each felt glider for Vitra's Plastic Chairs DSW and DAW consists of three individual parts that can be easily attached under the chair legs. The actual felt core of the gliders is glued into a socket, which in turn is screwed to the foot of the chair.
DSW (Dining Side Shell Wood) is a variant of the Eames Plastic Side Chair with a wooden base, first used by Charles and Ray Eames on the Wire Chair in 1951. The unusual material mix of conical legs made of maple with diagonally running round steel struts, which together form a solid static construction, lend this chair an independent character.
