Mother of Pearl Pendant Lamp
Also the history of the Danish company Verpan started with the Panton lamp FUN M.O.P. It was the first product of the then young company.
The co-name Mother or Pearl (N.O.P.) was given to the Fun lamp especially because of the Panton used material nacre (mother-of-pearl). But the Fun could also be called “Mother of all pearls” because of its graceful and fragile appeal.
Verner Panton saw the world surrounding him as inspiration source of all his designs. The 1964 created Fun lamp (M.O.P.) is thereby the best example for his excellent love-for-details. Naturalness combined with the creativity of design and the demands of functionality make up a lamp, which touches the different senses. The lamp doesn’t only bribe by a rich light interplay. Its versatile nacre elements moreover create a sensual quietness.
The Fun 1DM is made of semi-transparent, round mother-of-pearl sheets, connected dynamically be small metal rings: resulting in chains of different lengths (max. H 60 cm), the sheets hang at three metal hoops (Ø 45 cm). The real light source of the Verpan lamp is thereby hidden behind the sheets – as well as the pearl in the shell.
The centric illuminant (E27 max. 75 W) spreads the light against the mother-of-pearl sheets, reflecting the material’s typical gloss. The sheets get to move slightly by e.g. soft air drafts, so that vivid and versatile light and sound effects emerge. The cable with black fabric coatings acts decent and remains in the background, in order to leave the masterly composed light show of the Verner Panton design.
Each Verpan product is delivered with an authenticity certificate. This one grants that the product is original, still being produced according to the strict quality guidelines of Verner Panton at Verpan.
There are further sizes of the Fun M.O.P. lamp available. Furthermore the Fun Lamp Metal is also available with metal sheets (instead of nacre sheets).
