Rice paper lamp in the traditional style
At first glance, the Formakami Pendant Lamp JH5 designed by Jaime Hayon is reminiscent of the traditional Asian rice paper lanterns, which are used mostly for large festivities. Just like its role model from the Far East, the JH5 pendant lamp is made of ivory-colored rice paper, shaped by black stained oak rings.
Direct & indirect light
The special thing about the lamp is not only in the choice of shape and material, but also in the light output. The JH5 can be equipped with two light sources, with one of the lamps located inside the enclosed upper body providing indirect light. Through the open lower light body, the light shines directly and thus illuminates the underlying surfaces:
dining tables, counter tops, and other furnishings. Individually, or arranged in groups, the pendant lamp unfolds its traditional and at the same time elegant effect.
