Round pendant luminaire made of opal glass
The VL Ring Crown pendant lamp by Vilhelm Lauritzen for Louis Poulsen is a true classic by Vilhelm Lauritzen, who designed the lamp in the 1940s. In contrast to the iconic PH luminaires, he wanted to create a pendant luminaire with a round glass shade that was convincing and extremely practical.
"The lamp shall be easily dustable and the dirt shall not collect on the ground. It must not break at the first scratch and the lamp must be easy to replace. The luminaire should produce glare-free light even without dimming and, depending on requirements, emit a downwardly directed, uniformly rounded light. And she should look beautiful" Vilhelm Lauritzen
Made of mouth-blown glass and polished brass
The shade of the pendant luminaire is made of shiny white, three-layer and mouth-blown opal glass. The suspension consists of untreated, polished brass. The luminaire is part of a series designed by Lauritzen for the Danish broadcasting building in Copenhagen. The pendant luminaire provides glare-free light in every room and is an eye-catcher especially above a dining table or a cooking island.
The series also includes a chandelier in various versions and a wall lamp.
