Modern interpretation of the classic chandelier
The Patera Oval is part of the Patera family of pendant lights. It was designed by Øivind Slaatto and launched in 2015 in collaboration with Louis Poulsen . The Patera pendant light is a modern interpretation of the classic chandelier. It enriches modern spaces with a shimmering focal point and soft, dynamic lighting.
The pendant resembles an ellipsoid of diamond-shaped cells. Each cell is designed to capture light and hide the bulb when viewed at an angle greater than 40 degrees. At angles less than 40 degrees, the fixture emits direct, downward light. The round opening at the bottom provides direct light while creating a smooth transition to reflected light. The pendant luminaire can be used with or without a diffuser plate - depending on whether the view of the light source creates an unwanted glare.
