Pendant lamp made of frosted, blown glass
TheRituals pendant lamp, which was designed by the architects and designers Ludovica + Roberto Palomba forFoscarini, is particularly impressive due to its plasticity. The lights playfully move on the narrow ridge between the east and the west. The challenge was to translate the lightness of the washi paper of the oriental lanterns into a group of glass lights.
The Foscarini Rituals gets its special style from a special manufacturing technique: the glass is not rotated in the mold during blowing ("a fermo" technique). The special stripe look is achieved with a special casting mold with negative decorations that are repeated on the surface. The glass is then filed by hand and finally immersed in an acid bath, which gives it a plaster-like effect.
With its diffuse light, the Rituals pendant lamp is suitable for a wide variety of rooms and reinterprets the magic of rice paper or mulberry bark - the raw materials for Japanese lamps - by using blown and satined glass in a physical and precious way. Horizontal lines that run through the surface of the luminaires create a soft and fascinating decor and at the same time help to dampen the intensity of the light source and to distribute a full, warm and soft light.
With its paper-like body made of blown glass, the Rituals pendant lamp can be used both individually and in a harmonious composition by several lamps.
