Pendant light with three-shade system

The PH 5 pendant luminaire is a member of the PH 3 shade product family. The PH 3 shade system was initially a pendant luminaire solution, but very quickly developed into other types of luminaires for tables, floors, walls and a large number of chandeliers. As a result of the different sizes, materials, surfaces and light sources, over a thousand variants have been developed over the years.

Glare-free light

The PH 5 and its younger siblings, the PH 50 lights, can be hung low above the table. They consist of three shades and a cone on three struts. Two further smaller shades improve the spectral component of the light that is barely perceptible to the eye. The design of the visible reflector ensures that the light is emitted both vertically and horizontally. A sandblasted glass in the lower shade diffuses the light.

Design that has lost none of its relevance for 50 years speaks for itself. The combination of its three-shade luminaire with the four-shade luminaire still makes Henningsen's PH 5 one of the best examples of absolutely glare-free lighting today.

Architecture and light: Poul Hennigsen

Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen, the son of the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He did not graduate as an architect, but studied at the Frederiksberg Technical School from 1911-1914 and then at the Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-17. He also began to apply traditional functionalist architecture. However, his professional interest soon focused mainly on lighting design - and that is what he is famous for.

Perfectly shaped lighting design - Louis Poulsen

The Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen , founded in 1874, creates products that represent the duality of design and light. Every detail of a design serves a specific purpose. Every design begins and ends with light. Louis Poulsen offers a wide range of lighting options for indoor and outdoor use, covering both professional and residential use. Working closely with designers and architects such as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Øivind Slaatto, Alfred Homann, Clara von Zweigbergk, nendo - Oki Sato and GamFratesi, Louis Poulsen has established itself as one of the most important global suppliers of architectural and decorative lighting.

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Louis Poulsen is presenting an exclusive collection of iconic luminaires. They are characterized by a delicate pink shade on the inside of the shades and precious brass details that make them unique design pieces and coveted collector's items.
