The Akari 3A floor lamp is part of the Akari Light Sculptures designed in 1951 by the American-Japanese artist and designer Isamu Noguchi. He chose the word "akari", the Japanese expression for brightness and light, which also means lightness.
The idea for the design came from a visit to the small fishing village of Gifu, where Noguchi observed fishermen at work. They use not only trained cormorants for hunting, but also lanterns to attract fish. These lanterns had bamboo ribs covered with fine paper.
The 3A floor lamp is the designer's paper of the mulberry tree, because it distributes the light softly, gently and evenly.
The spherical shape of the luminaire is enthroned on three feet of painted steel wire, which provides a certain lightness. Details of wood and bamboo set additional accents and ensure a harmonious mix of materials. At a height of 560 cm, the luminaire can be placed either on a side table or on the floor.
The Akari 3A floor lamp brings warmth, cosiness and style to every living room with its gentle light distribution and extraordinary design.
