Floor lamp with offset centre point
With Callimaco, the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass has created a floor lamp that does not at all meet the expectations of a conventional floor lamp and therefore attracts everyone's attention. The lampshade is usually the centre of a floor lamp. In Artemide's Callimaco, the notion of the dominant lampshade is deliberately shaken, creating a floor lamp that draws attention to the centre of its construction.
The luminaire consists of a conical base, a long neck and a conical lamp shade which scatters the light upwards. A small but ingenious detail is the handle on the neck, which has no function but attracts all the attention and thus directs the centre of gravity of the lamp from the lampshade to the handle and thus to the centre of the lamp. The result is a luminaire which, with its unusual centre point, is an eye-catcher in any room.
The Callimaco LED floor lamp from Artemide consists of a base and a diffuser in lacquered steel, a neck in lacquered aluminium and a handle in polished and chrome-plated sheet metal.
