Bauhaus tea cup by Walter Gropius

The TAC tea cup by Rosenthal is part of the tableware series of the same name, which Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius named after his Boston office 'The Architects Collaborative'.

The series is characterised by its purist design with geometric shapes such as circles and spheres in focus. The result is a tableware that is influenced by the Bauhaus, but convinces with its timeless design.

In addition to the classic white cups, Rosental will be taking up the Stripes decor, also designed by Gropius, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus. Originally conceived with stripes on white porcelain, Rosenthal is now launching a black porcelain with a white decor on the market.
The fine, hand-drawn lines create a link between the craftsmanship-free and the precise geometric form. The shiny metallic surface of powdered platinum, a handcrafted decorative gold leaf finish, lends the black porcelain a unique shimmer.

British designer Bethan Laura Wood has also designed a pattern for the TAC series for the Bauhaus anniversary. Their experimental pattern is reminiscent of the overlapping warp and weft threads known from textile production. With her playful, colourful design, the designer had in mind the expressive weaving works of Bauhaus artist Anni Albers.
