Walter Gropius, the world famous Bauhaus founder, brought the classic modernism dogmas and maxims to the table exclusively for Rosenthal. A coveted classic piece that was perfected with the TAC series: as a complete food service, coffee and tea set.
When Rosenthal brought TAC by Walter Gropius on the market in 1969, his sketches also included one form perfect individual series for the coffee table, which wasn’t produced. Drawings for a food service which followed the form language of the successful tea set had even then already been lying in the drawer at product development. They now serve as models for the current Rosenthal TAC Gropius coffee set.
Gropius built from simple geometric shapes. The circle and the sphere are the shaping elements for the TAC Gropius coffee set, just as Gropius thought. The TAC coffee set is the result of a close-knit cooperation between the Rosenthal Creative Centre and the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau. That professional cooperation made it possible to expand the programme so that it matched the great creative ability of the Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius.
