The designer Valerio Sommella created an unusual bottle opener which unifies form and function harmonically, inspired by the natural shape of shells that are turned in on themselves.
The pleasant form of Bulla does not reveal its purpose as a practical object at first glance. But with its twisted shape, Bulla is excellently suitable as a bottle opener and is even pleasant to the touch.
The polished stainless steel surface appears noble and elegant. The practical leather band harmonically contrast the polished surface of Bulla and makes it easy to pick up and hang it in the kitchen or the bar area. Bulla can also be used as a key-ring or piece of jewellery (on a chain for example),
so that the bottle opener is always at hand. With the design of Bulla, Valerio Sommella has unified sculptural and functional elements in an appealing way: “... the smooth shapes, the origin of which remains hidden at first glance, and the idea that some of these forms can incidentally also have a function without necessarily declaring it explicitly. From all this comes a compact steel bottle opener that feels like holding a smooth shell in your hand, an organic shape that varies in its thickness. It comes to life in the light and reveals its form fully through reflections.”Valerio Sommella
