We discovered the ancestor of the bellows with the inhabitants of the French region of Lozère. It’s called ‘Bouffadou’ or ‘tool for making fire without burning your moustache’.
You blow through the stick carved from a pine top in order to fan a flame, without disturbing the ashes. The legend of the witch Bouffanelle is then told by the warming fire. She invented the magic stick long ago in the woods of Gévaudan. In this light, the Bouffadou is of course not an Auerberg product. However, the simplicity of it has won us over. And: it works fantastically! as Auerberg initiator, Christoph Böninger, describes the original tool.
