Hand knotted carpet with stripes
For Normann Copenhagen the designer Simon Legald has created the carpet series Oona designed: Hand-knotted rugs in a clear, graphic design. Oona plays with shapes and contrasts. Clean lines and soft curves create three unique rug shapes - and they are neither round nor rectangular. A deeper woven stripe in a darker shade is a graphic design element of the otherwise plain-colored rugs.
Simon Legald often focuses on the details in his designs. At Oona for example, he has designed the radius of the corners differently on all three rugs, thus varying the formal language but maintaining the visual coherence. Simon Legald explains, "I tried to create a rug where the decorative element is achieved primarily through the shaping. As a small detail, the concise, straight stripe emphasizes the shape of the rugs. It creates asymmetry and is a visual contrast to the soft curves of the edges."
New Zealand wool in various sizes
Normann Copenhagen manufactures the Oona from 100% New Zealand wool. Oona is available in three sizes. The rugs can be used in a variety of ways, for example, in the dining room, under the coffee table, next to the bed or as a unifying element in a foyer or a large hall.
