Tradition meets modernity: With the Kelim Rug, ferm Living proves that ancient patterns wonderfully fit into modern homes.
A Kelim is a woven rug that has been embellishing walls and floors of Middle Eastern homes for thousands of years. ferm Living was inspired by these textiles for the design of their Kelim rugs, for two reasons: Like their role models, the ferm Living rugs are woven. Furthermore, typical of both a Kelim and of ferm Living: the inspiring geometrical patterns.
The “Squares” pattern displays square and rectangular figures in different, harmonically adapted colours.
The Kelim Rugs by ferm Living are handmade, so each rug is unique. The weaving technique is called “Punja” and is one of the most ancient weaving techniques of the world. The weave varies slightly depending on the person making the rug. Furthermore, small colour differences may appear from rug to rug, as the woolen yarn is dyed by hand. The wool used is certified by Woolmark.
