Crevasse is a sculptural flower vase, designed by the popular Iraqi star architect Zaha Hadid.
The characteristic shape of the vase comes about from the combination of rotation and inversion of a trapezoidal shape. The rotated sides of the Officina Alessi Crevasse emphasise the vertical, but also give the vase movement and agility, bringing excitement to the otherwise ‘frozen’ shape.
The name Crevasse is a reference to designer Zaha Hadid’s source of inspiration:
the sharp outline of the stainless steel Crevasse vase juts out into the room which it also seems to cut, just like the sharp edge of an Arctic crevasse.
For the Crevasse, the multiple award-winning architect carried over her architectural approach to the product’s design and created an elegant vase, which doesn’t keep its architectural influence a secret, making it stand out from the masses. With its sophisticated and straight-lined, elegant design, the Crevasse vase integrates perfectly with the Officina Alessi collection, which has always been home to Alessi’s most demanding and experimental products.
