The wooden zebra is one of the first figures from the Kay Bojesen animal collection. The zebra has taken a place on the unique threshold between fantasy figure and design object
The zebra was created well before the most famous Bojesen animal, the wooden monkey. While the latter only first saw the light of day in 1951, the wooden zebra was made in 1935. It was one of the first exotic animals by the Danish designer. The zebra galloped from the savannah directly into Kay Bojesens shop in the heart of Copenhagen. His charming stripes are owed to the artist Svend Johansen, who also gave the puffin its colourful feathers.
Wooden Aminals for Design Enthusiasts
The zebra is made of massive beech wood and painted by hand. It can complete the other wooden animals by Bojesen or stand alone thanks of its low-key shapes and colours.
Like all of the animals from the collection, the wooden zebra will put a smile on both adults and children's faces alike. Grown up design enthusiasts will love the iconic wooden animals, whose simple outlines are expressive and unique.
