The Pedrera coffee table from Gubi was created in the mid-1950s. Innovative in expression and choice of materials at the time, it is now considered a classic. The thoughtful and sophisticated design has lost none of its classic charm over the decades and lends a light atmosphere to modern ensembles as well as classic interiors.
The design for the Pedrera coffee table came from Spanish architect and designer Barba Corsini. In 1953 he was asked by the real estate company that managed Antonio Gaudi's famous residential building 'La Pedrera ' in Barcelona to design apartments for the top floor of this building.
In addition to the 13 individual apartments that Corsini subsequently designed for the Pedrera building, he also designed an associated lighting and furniture series. Part of this was the Pedrera side table and the Pedrera lights, all of which are now manufactured by the Gubi company.
Thanks to the broad-based Pedrera project, Barba Corsini gained international recognition at the time and the furniture advanced to become design classics. The Pedrera side table is made by Gubi with a metal base and has an organically shaped glass top.
