Aalto Side Table with Bentwood Frame
The side table 915 was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1923 and was originally intended to furnish the Paimio Sanatorium in Finland. Today, the unique table has found its place in the domestic home thanks to Artek where it can be used next to the sofa, in the corridor or as a bedside table. Wherever it is used, the table comes into its own because of its aesthetics and quality.
Table with Two Curved Shelves
Its secure frame made of birch wood is characteristic for the side table by Artek. With the then revolutionary process of gluing bentwood, it is brought into the desired shape and thus obtains the curves typical of Aalto's pieces of furniture.
While two light birch skids form the frame of the side table, two curved veneer shelves also serve as a storage surface. Its shell shape not only ensures a soft, harmonious appearance, but also keeps the objects placed on it securely in place.
