Container serving trolley with castors

With the Barboy Verner Panton laid the foundation for a new trend: mobile pieces of furniture were to become standard furnishings in countless houses and apartments in the decades to come. In 1963, when Panton moved to Basel (Switzerland) to work with Vitra on new furniture concepts, he was particularly interested in designing flexible furniture for more flexibility in interior design. He therefore mounted many of his designs from this period on wheels - including the Barboy .

The Barboy is a perfect example of Panton's approach to designing flexible living space: The bar cabinet can be moved quickly and easily on its four chrome castors, while offering plenty of space for all kinds of contents.

When closed, nothing disturbs the cylindrical shape and clear lines of the Barboy . When open, the multi-part piece of furniture offers three compartments of different sizes, of which the two upper compartments can be swung out. The compartments provide space for all kinds of bar accessories - from numerous bottles and glasses to corkscrews and coasters, everything can be stored in the wooden Barboy under.

As Verner Panton was an advocate of flexibility and versatility, the purpose of the Barboy is not limited to the home bar: the rolling helper can also be used in the living room, bathroom or kitchen - wherever things need to be stored and mobile.
