Upholstered stool without backrest
The Uno Pouf from Design House Stockholm was designed for a hotel where flexibility is of utmost importance," says Eero Koivisto. "When you sit on a seat without a backrest, as in the Far East, you also adopt a more active posture." Eero Koivisto notes that benches and stools are common in Japan, especially in restaurants and bars, and they enforce an attentive seating position that contributes to lively discussions.
Claesson Koivisto Rune renovated the legendary Grand Hotel Terminus in Bergen, Norway, and created Uno as a pouf for the Amundsen Whisky Bar. The warm, amber interior, framed by beams and wood paneling and impressive tall stained glass windows, was meant to retain its original character. Almost identical to the time when explorer Amundsen held his press conference by the grand fireplace in 1928 before disappearing on his final Arctic rescue mission. Uno adds Finn Juhl's Pelican chairs along with lush sofas and small tables in a historic setting, allowing for an even more easily rearranged space.
Uno Is no exception in terms of care and attention to detail. A finely crafted wood structure supports an upholstery material with different densities: firm but soft. And it is obviously pragmatic how easy it is to move the pouf and how the recessed base makes it easier to get up from a seated position.
