The Plastic Armchairs were first presented in 1948 as part of the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The organically shaped seat shell made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic was later combined with various bases, such as the rocking runners of the RAR, and millions were produced. In their current version made of polypropylene, the armchairs offer even better seating comfort.
From 2024, all seat shells of the Eames Plastic Chairs from will be made from recycled post-consumer plastic from the German household waste collection "Der Gelbe Sack". Exception: the color white 04 will be made from the previous material until the end of 2024.
The rocking chair Eames RAR of the Eames Plastic Armchairs from the Home collection is available in various colors.
