Elegant, versatile chair made of aluminum, wood and upholstery
The Mikado chair, designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby for Vitra , impresses not only with its design, but also with its exceptional comfort. The seating experience is defined by the round upholstery and the movable backrest: A clever mechanism hidden under the seat allows the backrest to be gently tilted backwards.
The Mikado is available both as a armchair and as a classic chair. In this version of the Mikado chair, the round backrest is pulled less far forward.
The covers of the Mikado are not glued and can be removed for cleaning or replacement. The legs can be replaced individually or exchanged for other material options - wood or recycled aluminum. The seat plate is made of recycled aluminum and the base of the backrest is made of recycled polypropylene, which can be easily separated from the foam during recycling.
This concept of simply replacing components makes the Mikado adaptable and particularly durable in the long term.
