The Crate Lounge Sofa from Hay . The Crate Collection was originally developed in 1934 by the Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld to reuse surplus wooden transport crates. It was relaunched in collaboration between Rietveld Originals and HAY relaunched.

The Crate Lounge Sofa sticks to the original design and has precise proportions and a transparent construction that was strategically developed to minimize production costs and streamline the assembly process. The sofa is characterized by its flat dimensions and has a gently sloping backrest and seat with supportive armrests.

Its simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural principles - it offers functionality and comfort without taking up too much space. Made from solid pine wood, the Crate Lounge Sofa is available in different color variants and has a water-based paint finish, making it well suited for various outdoor areas. Optional seat cushions made from selected textiles can be added to increase comfort.
