Classics from Thonet on wheels
The S 64 chair from Thonet in its variant as a cantilever chair is probably one of the most famous chairs of the 20. Century. Thonet is now launching the classic swivel chair on the market, perfectly adapting to today's world of work. Today, mobility and flexibility are the focus of attention and describe a modern lifestyle and working style that is also adapted to the interior.
Thanks to the star-shaped central base with five castors, the S 64 VDR swivel chair can be used flexibly in any home office, office or conference room. At the same time, the armrests, the height-adjustable seat and the wickerwork backrest offer pleasant comfort.
The iconic chair was designed in the late 1920s by Marcel Breuer, based on the design by Mart Stam, who is considered the author of the chairs S 64 and S 32. The Swiss designer Christophe Marchand, who had already developed tubular steel furniture for Thonet and oriented his design closely to the original, contributed to the S 64, which is now equipped with castors.
The wooden parts of the chair are made of stained beech, while the seat and backrest are made of wickerwork. On request they are also available upholstered and covered with leather or fabric.
