Armchair with Rilsan coating
Whether chrome-plated, satined, or coated for outdoor use (Rilsan-protection coating), the wire netting of the Harry Bertoia designed and by Knoll produced Diamond chair served as an inspiration source for new ideas for generations of aspiring young designers. The diamond Chair is part of a whole series of seating furniture, reclining chairs, and stools that Harry Bertoia designed at the beginning of the 1950s. All furniture of this wire frame family is hand drawn and hand welded in a complicated process. The studied sculptor and silversmith, Bertoia - who saw his chairs as “studies in room, form, and metal - put a square on a tip and pulled lights to create the chair with comfortable results:
The armchair is light and comfortable. The Bertoia Diamond armchair remains a fascinating study of bent round-tubes and is an icon among sitting furniture. It has a classic modern design that compliments any environment.
Its delicate design is reminiscent of a sculpture, yet the Diamond Chair is extremely comfortable and meets all practical requirements of seating.
The Bertoia Diamond Chair is and remains a fascinating study of curved rods and an icon under the seating furniture. Knoll offers the Diamond Chair in different versions: fully upholstered with chromed or satin-finish frame, a frame with Rilsan coating as an outdoor model.
