Lounge chair made of plywood
The LCW chair (Lounge Chair Wood) is part of the Plywood Group collection of the design couple Charles & Ray Eames. LCW stands for Lounge Chair Wood and thus describes exactly the essence of the chair: an elegant lounge chair, made entirely of the best wood.
In many years of experimentation, Charles and Ray Eames searched for new methods of adapting three-dimensionally shaped laminated wood to the forms of the human body in the best possible way. The LCW, in which both the seat and backrest as well as the base are made of deformed plywood, is today also available again with a fur cover, as it was when it was first introduced to the market in 1946.
Exceptional seating comfort
For the production of the Plywood Group layers of wood are bent into shape. The thin wooden shells of the back and seat support the body with the slightly curved surfaces. The individual elements are attached to the frame with elastic rubber washers, they provide additional seating comfort.
