Classic chair reinterpreted

The 118 by Sebastian Herkner for Thonet is a modern and at the same time filigree chair whose shape is reminiscent of the classic bentwood chairs from Thonet and whose subtle elegance makes it an eye-catcher at any dining table. Another source of inspiration for Sebastian Herkner was the "Frankfurt Chair", developed in the 1930s and long used as a universal chair. Herkner likes to call his new design for Thonet , in reference to his hometown, the "Offenbach chair".

Curved seat frame and Viennese weave

The timeless 118 chair references the 214 bentwood chair in its curved seat frame shape. The hand-finished seat is also covered with the iconic Viennese wickerwork (cane weave).

The chair gets new elements from its legs. Rounded on the back, slight edges on the front of the legs provide a certain break that makes the chair special. Refined details give the 118 chair a less dominant look and at the same time make it more distinguished. This makes it versatile and can be integrated into a wide variety of room situations -in your own four walls and in public areas.

The 118 is available in natural beech, as well as in lacquered and stained finishes. Optionally, the 118 is also offered with a trough seat.
