Armchair with four-star base
"Something must happen between objects and people," Konstantin Grcic once said in an interview. It seems as if he had declared this saying as the guiding principle for his chair Chair One, which he designed for Magis in 2003. For the skeleton-like and sculptural-looking chair caused a stir not only among experts.
But the Chair One 4Star is by no means a mere avant-garde piece of seating furniture. The chair is an interplay of material, design and industrial production. Chair One 4Star rests on a four-legged cross and can therefore be rotated. It can be used both indoors and outdoors because it has been treated for rust protection and is fire-retardant.
With the Chair One 4Star, designer Konstantin Grcic used die-cast aluminum for the first time for a complete seat shell, which is additionally surface-treated with fluorinated titanium and polyester painted. The four-star base is also made of die-cast aluminium.
