In addition to the About a Chair series, Hay also offers an About A Lounge (AAL) series with comfortable armchairs and sofas as well as an About A Stool (AAS) series with various bar stools.
1. Seat shells: 3 shapes
The About A Chair (AAC) is available with three different seat shells. The version without armrests is particularly suitable for use in the office, while the model with armrests is used, for example, at the dining table. The AAC 100 series offers additional comfort due to the lower seat and higher backrest.
2. Underframes AAC without armrests
Each of the three seat shell shapes has different underframes, which can be selected depending on the type of use. The AAC without armrests is available with seven base types, including star-shaped feet with and without castors, wooden and metal four-legged bases and skid-mounted bases.
3. Underframes AAC with armrests
The AAC with armrests is available with six different bases. Here you can choose between four-legged bases made of wood or metal as well as star-shaped bases with and without castors.
4. Underframes AAC 100
The chairs from the AAC 100 series can be chosen from four different underframes. Available are four leg frames made of wood or metal as well as star base frames with and without castors.
5. Materials Base frames
The About A Chair's underframes can be made of either wood or metal. The wooden legs are made of plywood and have an oak veneer in four different finishes. The metal legs, on the other hand, are made of chrome-plated or powder-coated steel in various colours.
6. Colours seat shells
The seat shell of About A Chair chairs is made of polypropylene and is available in 15 different colours, including warm and cool tones.
7. Upholstery AAC
The AAC with and without armrests is available with four types of upholstery: classic without upholstery, with seat upholstery, with front upholstery and with full upholstery. For orientation: The fully upholstered models are named with an odd number, all other upholsteries with an even number.
8. Upholstery AAC 100
The chairs from the About A Chair 100 series have three different full upholstery options. A classically light upholstery in a simple style is the standard version. The Soft model has a softly upholstered seat shell, which promises cosiness and is characterized by a quilted finish. The Soft Duo version provides a high-contrast design. The seat and back of the chair have different covers.
9. Cover fabrics
All About A Chair upholstered chairs can be ordered with textiles or leather according to taste. You can choose between Kvadrat fabrics, Hay fabrics and Camo leather types.
