"Something has to happen between objects and people" , Konstantin Grcic once said in an interview. It seems as if he had declared this statement to be the guiding principle for his chair designed in 2003 for the company Magis . Chair One for the company . Because the skeletal and sculptural-looking chair, which looks like a teaching object from geometry lessons, caused irritation not only among experts.
Chair One is, however, by no means a mere avant-garde piece of seating furniture. The chair is an interplay of material, design and industrial production. It is rust-proofed and fire-retardant, making it predestined for brand-sensitive zones and outdoor use. For the first time, Grcic used die-cast aluminum for a complete chair seat, which is additionally surface-treated with fluorinated titanium and coated with a polyester paint. For the chair legs, he chose anodized aluminum.
Chair One is a stackable all-metal chair (up to 8 pieces on top of each other), available in various color options. In addition (and not included in the scope of delivery), for the Chair One seat cushions in textile fabric or leather are available.
