Japanese tradition
The futon is a Japanese bed in the broader sense. It consists of a mattress filled with cotton, which is spread out on a floor made of tatami mats. Tatami is a mat made of rice straw, which is spread out as a floor in traditional Japanese rooms and serves as a base for the futon. In the western world, the futon is a very low, simple bed frame with a mattress, the actual futon.
The Japan bed from Karup Design consists of a frame with eight feet that floats approx. 20 cm above the floor. It is made from sustainable pine wood and is available in various lacquer finishes.
Please note: A mattress is not included in the scope of delivery and can be chosen at will and easily changed if required.
