Like small, natural protrusions, the Corniches, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec,are flexible shelves.

The Corniches were designed to place things spontaneously on them, stemming from the desire of having a place for smaller things at all times.

“Just the same as hanging things on a boulder before jumping in the water, we also need small possibilities to store things in our everyday life,” explained Ronan Bouroullec. This is the reason why the Corniches are not normal or even horizontal shelves, but somehow individual, independent, and alone in their surroundings, like protrusions that we create by ourselves.

As key hooks next to doors, as shelves to store things that we need instantly in the bathroom, to present a small collection of objects, or as a large wall installation: Corniches are another possibility of how to use our living areas.

The innovative designs by the French brothers are always focused on flexibility and light weight. The Corniches illustrate the concept of spontaneous storage possibilities.
